At this time of year, if the wind drops in the evening, then it's virtually guaranteed that there will be midges about. This little group on our lounge window may well be owl midges, but I didn't take the chance of finding out to the contrary and remained indoors.

Midweek, I had to go across to the Scottish mainland, so caught an early ferry from Stromness to Scrabster. As we sailed out of Stromness, there were nice views of the cliffscape of the island of Hoy (albeit through a window due to pandemic restrictions).
