March hare

On a few evenings this week, a Hare has been feeding in the field just across the road from Tense Towers. For me, there is no finer example of the heralding of Spring than the increased visibility of hares.

Wednesday...

Thursday...

Are they boxing, yet? I still don't quite understand the cultural idiom, despite my google and wikipedia internet searches.

Best to you and G, aka Tense Towers and The Lass.

Awww, those pygmy rabbits in the link are so cute!

Nah, not seen any boxing activity yet, but the fields to our east (out of our direct view) seem to hold a greater number of hares and so have more opportunities for any hare on hare action.

What do jack-rabbits and snowshoes get up to during courtship in the States? Do they not exhibit the same behaviour of the female discouraging unwanted advances from the male?

For the record, in Europe we do NOT put our hares in square cardboard packaging :o) Not even at Easter.
