A warm sun and a gentle breeze gave me cause for a momentary pause amongst the wild flowers growing in my workplace...
Northern Marsh Orchid, Dactylorhiza purpurella |
Field Forgetmenot, Myosotis arvensis |
Cuckooflower, Cardamine pratensis |
Ox-eye Daisy, Leucanthemum vulgare |
Er... possibly Pineapple Weed, Matricaria discoidea |

Nice photaes sir.
Didnae check, as I didnae ken whit it wis.
Found some at home and that does smell of pineapples.
But that doesn't make the weather tropical :o(
I wish we could trade weather for a while, tho' the shock might kill us both. It's 105F today (~41C).
"But, it's a dry heat!"
And, while dry heat is easier to bear than humid, it also more closely resembles walking inside an oven (I imagine) so is a little bit creepy. Like the planet is trying to cook you.
Perhaps it's just returning the favor...
Yours are lovely plants. We have virtually NO green right now, unless it's tended by my garden hose. The landscape (grasses, etc.) is mostly blonde. So, while I don't envy getting wind burn from freezing temps in summer, I do envy seeing a world that has water. =)
Sorry, bb, I shouldn't whinge, should I. Generally, the British Isles never has any particular flavour of weather for very long. And in Orkney, 'very long' is about 10 minutes.
It took me a while to cotton on to the "returning the favor..." phrase. Too true :o(
Did you ever solve your minimum fire break distance/garden planting conundrum?
