Fifty, not out...

Last week saw a bit of a milestone for Yours Truly. I had a birthday. One of those where work colleagues take great delight in decking out one's work space with banners and balloons. And inserting the word 'old' into the conversation at every available opportunity. It really isn't cricket.

To mark this reasonably large number of years, our First Born, with clandestine help from her younger sibling, organised the selection of some words and photographs from the Imperfect and Tense blog, had them printed and the resultant book delivered to Tense Towers.

To say I was surprised and delighted would be an understatement.

Here's a picture of said book, appropriately enough with Cameron Binns...

Though for the life of me, I can't work out why a photo in 'landscape' mode on my pc should upload to Blogger in 'portrait' mode?

Yo. Congrats. Savor the good memories from this experience.

Thanks, Katie.

Is that a polite way of saying "It's all downhill from now onwards"? :o)

It was possibly the best present I've ever had, so I intend to hang on until 60 to see if they can top it!

Hi ya - that's the loveliest thing I've read all day! Thanks Graeme and thanks girls that is sooo sweet I'm very touched. I hope it was equalled by the away trip with 'our lass'. L & BW to all xxxx

And as for old? Your only as old as you feel - I feel like a 20 year old but ain't found one yet :0( doh! The 'old' ones are the worst! But so what, at our age we may rattle and creak a bit but blimey the timing chain on a mini rattles almost from new and they keep going forever!! Just keep doing more of the same - what goes around comes around and your colleagues will soon have their turn (tern) :0)

I was actually miffed when I had mine that despite my subtle hints it would be a good wheeze to my amusement, the tight buggers this end didn't sign me up for a years Saga membership :0)

And that's a whole lot better than Cook, Kieswetter, Trott, Pietersen, Bopara, Bainstow, Patel, Bresnan, Swann, Finn and Dernbach! You are truly more inspirational than a whole cricket team...on a good day...! xxx

Thank you, o Bobble-hatted One, I hadn't remembered the fact that there was a cricket match being played. As it turns out, twas probably best forgotten. So I will concentrate on my away-swinging literary deliveries, with the occasional bit of spin. XX

Congratulations on another day of you life being added to the tally... maybe it should now be 18262.5 not out and counting? For my part I can't wait to see the book :) and of course to read the next 200 posts too.

Thank you, Martin. It is difficult to quantify our lives, isn't it? That's an awful lot of sunrises and sunsets, but only 50 orbits of a star by this planet. Or on a more personal level, gallons of tea and tons of cake!
